How old do I have to be before I start learning to fly?
A person cannot be authorised to fly solo (fly the aircraft with no one else on board) until they reached the age of 15 years old. We have had several students start taking lessons prior to 15 years old. Our youngest 11yo. You must be able to reach the controls of the aircraft.
I didn’t complete maths in secondary school and I still able to gain a pilot licence?
Yes, it is not a requirement to have secondary school maths to become a pilot. However you still need to be able to add/subtract/multiply and be able to use a calculator.
Do I need an aviation medical before I start flying?
You are required to have an aviation medical before you are authorised to fly solo. It is suggested you complete this early in your training say by your 3rd lesson to ensure there is nothing that will interrupt your training. If you are enrolling on a Commercial Pilot Licence Course you should obtain a class 1 medical prior to commencing your course.
